Dana Navins, NY Divorce Attorney

“Your problem is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach.”

– Earl Nightingale

We provide skilled legal representation to individuals in divorce and Family Law matters. We are dedicated to resolving cases amicably through negotiation, and most cases are successfully settled without litigation. However, when negotiations break down, we are able and zealous advocates for our clients.

We handle all aspects of divorce and Family Law. Whether it is a simple, uncontested divorce, or a high-conflict, high-net worth divorce involving extensive assets, or a complex custody matter involving relocations and custody evaluations, we are equipped to navigate the spectrum.

We work with forensic accountants in cases involving business valuations and cash flow, and use marital standard of living analysis for child and spousal support cases. Other Family Law areas include domestic violence, paternity, post divorce modifications and pre (and post) nuptial agreements.

At Navins Law, we take pride in “thinking outside the box,” and addressing each matter’s unique set of circumstances.  The best outcome is when resources are preserved for the family, rather than paid to the attorneys, in conjunction with the reduction of hostility and disappointment that often accompanies the breakdown of a family.

Dana Forster-Navins, Esq. P.C.

Dana’s practice predominately focuses on Family Law and Matrimonial although she is adept at tackling other areas of law when they intersect with a divorce action.

Dana practiced commercial litigation before landing in Family Law. Early on in her career she left the private sector to work for the Administration for Children’s Services (“ACS”) where she prosecuted child abuse and neglect cases in New York City. In addition to focusing on child protection, Dana honed her trial skills doing countless hearings and advocating on behalf of her clients.

After the birth of her first child, Dana left ACS in 2002 and returned to the private sector, practicing solely Family and Matrimonial Law and adding Mediation to her practice. Dana fully appreciates the emotional complexity involved in matters having to do with family, marriage, finances and domestic violence. Each case is unique and carries with it a particular set of circumstance. Dana is especially skilled at understanding the nuances of each matter and employs an unusual combination of strength and sensitivity for her clients.

Dana is a Westchester resident who practices mainly in Westchester & New York County (surrounding counties optional). She is the married mother of two daughters and an incredibly cute dog named JoJo.

"It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog."
